I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.” // Revelation 22:8-9
As we wrap up reading through Revelation today, I found that conversation between John and the angel to be a really helpful reminder and summary of what Revelation is ultimately about.
Don’t worship Caesar. Don’t worship wealth. Don’t worship Rome. Don’t worship power. Don’t worship idols and their false promises.
Worship God because God is the one on the throne, not Satan. Worship God because God is the one who keeps His promises. Worship God because God is the one who will wipe away every tear from your eyes. Worship God because God is the one who has all power and authority. Worship God because God is the one who will make all things new.
So what is the main message of Revelation? It is a plea for the Christian to remain faithful to Jesus, to worship God no matter what is happening in your life or the world, because our God is on the throne, ruling and reigning over all things and our God is the one who will return to fix and heal everything.
So, Worship God.
Grace + Peace
